So, how are you? Do you have certification in computer repair? Just wondering what your background is. Thanx.

Hello,
I am not formally certified in computer repair, but I have been using and working on/with PC’s since 1979. I am familar with every OS from DOS to Vista, and am continually educating myself on the newest trends and technology surrounding home computing. Thank you for your interest!

Hi Brit,
I am not certified because I never had the desire to go into computer repair for a living.even though when everyone I know has a computer issue they call me! LOL! I did go back to school and take some certificate courses for Word and Excel though. The rest I learned on my own. I have almost 30 years of experience working with home computers. Good luck to you on your certification!

Hi aken,
My fave computer magazine is PC World. Computer Shopper is also a great resource for computer parts and accessories. My fave geek websites are Cnet.com and ComputerWorld.com. The “Dummies” books are great for the home computer user as they present info in an easy to read style that isn’t overwhelming or intimidating. I wish the old TechTV was still around. That network was the BEST!

Hi Rece,
Don’t panic! Most computer makers are still offering systems with XP installed rather than Vista. It’s also possible to do what is called backgrading and replace Vista with XP, but Microsoft doesn’t make it easy. Linux is another option you may want to look into. Good luck!

Hi Barb,
I love computers because they open the gates to a whole new world. They make life easier and more fun, and keep us connected to our friends and family in a whole new way!
