No, you won’t break me…
The computer, that is!!
Most of my clients tend to stick with email as their primary function on the computer. They know it. It’s like an old friend to them. It’s easy, relatively safe and allows them to keep in touch with relatives and friends near and far. They are petrified to venture into the unknown, unchartered waters of the web, CD burning, photos, music or anything else.
I am here to let you (and them) know that their computer is nothing to be afraid of! It won’t bite and you certainly can’t break them easily by “pressing an incorrect key.” This used to be the case in years past, when computers required users to know more about the physical makeup of a computer and had to insert a boot or program disk to make it work.
Today things have changed. Computers are “user friendly” and have many help features built in.
One feature I wish to point out is the F1key. You see it up there in the left hand corner of your keyboard? It’s next to the Esckey. This is the help feature used in Windows and many other software programs you will use. Yes, even your CD burning program probably has one. There’s probably even a “tutorial” on one of the menus.
Don’t be afraid to explore. Open and close icons, menus and the like. If you get lost, so what. You can always go back and start again.
For help getting started using a computer you can try this link. It looked interesting and it’s not in “computer jargon.” It states over 50, but all will relate to the material: Mixes Internet with the actual computer hardware/system information. Let me know how you like it or if you have other links that have helped you.
If you have questions or comments, I’d love to hear them. Always interesting on the subject of “computer intimidation.”

I home a tablet PC [a TC1100] and it drives me bananas at times!
I’m still learning what it can do.
