Computers Eat Time

So it’s late, I’m at home after a busy day and, after a phone call to Mr JM, he’s going to be late.
Why is it so?
Well, he’s busy with a computer build so tomorrow we can go straight from home for a trip into the countryside. I like trips away and he likes to drive so it’s all good.
His work has a new type of Lenovo computer and so they need a new build to get it set up for their work image. He has been working on it, on and off for a week or so. There were driver problems and setup problems and image problems.
Just when he thought they were all dealt with, he has hit a snag. The process is to build a computer with all the software and set it up for use. Then it is prepared for something he calls a SYSPREP build and then he images it using Symantec Ghost.
This process allows them to have an individual setup on each machine for the network and still have standard software so they don’t need to spend three or four hours per machine to set them up out of the box.
All that went well, but then came the problem. Restarting the machine & trying to attach it to the network failed. So he is sitting there working on it and I am a Computer Widow, waiting here for him to solve the problem and come home.
Ah computers… can’t live with them, can’t use a steamroller on them. *sigh*
